Bernese Oberland

The holiday homes in the Berner Oberland region are situated amongst its high mountaintops like the Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau and Schilthorn. In good weather they offer a clear view of the Mont Blanc and the Black Forest. Various panoramic restaurants can be found at the tops, where you can get a bite to eat and a drink while enjoying the amazing scenery.

Visit the Jungfraujoch from your cottage

The most important excursion in Switzerland is to be found in this region: the Jungfraujoch (3571 m), with the highest railway station in Europehighly recommended! It is part of the splendid Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn region which has been listed on Unescos Natural World Heritage Sites as a unique landscape of special beauty. Youll find exceptional flora and fauna here, and the longest glacier in the Alps (and in the Wallis region), the Aletsch Glacier, also scintillates here.

Holiday towns in the Jungfrau region include Grindelwald, Interlaken, Wengen and Mürren. Grindelwald is a nice touristic glacier village where youll see fabulous natural scenery. A spectacular and impressive hiking tour of the glacial rift is not to be missed. There is enough to do from your cottage in Berner Oberland.

Berner Oberland has 500 km of hiking and mountain paths and 400 km of bicycle routesmaking it an absolute paradise for the active holidaymaker. An alternative to a normal bicycle is the Trottibike, a kind of scooter which is a new trend worth trying out. After an active day, it is heaven to go home to one of the Belvilla holiday homes!

The capital city of Bern is also part of this region. Bern is a lively and multifaceted city, whose inner sector has an almost medieval character and lovely squares, such as the Zytglogge, where it is always pleasant and busy.

As the name suggests, the city of Interlaken rests between two lakes, at the foot of the mountains. It is a modern, trendy city with a vibrant city centre where you can enjoy a nice meal in one of the many authentic Swiss restaurants. It is also the perfect starting point for a hiking trip in the mountains.
