This was one of the holiday houses we would not like to return to. The main reason for this is the unfriendliness of the hosts. We (a small Dutch family with a child of 10 and a dog (Labrador)) stayed in the house during autumn holidays in 2017. By itself the house was quite good with exception of poor sound isolation, poor ventilation in the rooms, bathroom with a too small shower cabine and a too (really too) steep staircase to the 1-st floor. Bed linens and the towels were not provided (even not in the kitchen) and should have been of our own. Sleeping experience was ok, but the master bedroom bed was quite hard and quite old and was missing the topping (or a blanket) on top of the mattress, which made it feel not very hygienic. The house is situated on the last line of houses of the village next to a number of farms and on the border with the forest. It is, however, not advised to take a walk in the forest in this time of the year due to hunting. Keep this in mind in case, as we are, you are counting on taking walks. The level of friendliness or rather unfriendliness of the hosts, who live in another wing of the house, was very disappointing and would be the major reason to advise against booking this house to the readers of this message. Some of the experiences which made us come to this conclusion 1. It has been very strictly communicated to us that our dog should be let out outside - which is usual for when we are at home too - and that under no condition should our dog be seen around the pond and the territory of the property. We can walk him in the forest, but not loose as it will be shot by the hunters. This sounded like a good opening. 2. Next, we have been very strictly explained how the garbage should be sorted and where should it be brought to. It is usual for us to sort the garbage, but it was our first time to hear that it should not be more that certain amount and that we are expected to do things in the way we were explained and not any other way. 3. A basket of wood from the host will cost you 5 EUR, so you can better buy wood on a gas station and have it cheaper Yet, we were explained that we can pick up the basket ourselves, if we wish to, and that we should communicate about the amount of baskets we picked. There are no (even) matches in the house, so make sure to bring your own as the host will, of course, borrow some to you, but you'll have to ask first. Since the wood is not quite dry, you'll also need some firelighters to make it burn. Make sure to buy them too. 4. Deposit return is another unpleasant experience. We booked the house for 5 days and the amount of deposit has not been re-calculated it was a set amount, which you'd have to pay to the host at the settlement and you could only expect the money to be returned to you after 2 weeks upon your departure. Not only does it make you feel the house owner lives on your account, you seriously doubt if the money going to be returned. At our departure we asked the host to check the house together to make sure he sees the house how we left it and confirms nothing was broken, but he refused to do so. We were just told that if something is not in order, he will let us know, and refused to check the house. At the end the money were paid-off, but all-in-all, the experience has not been pleasant.

Het huisje zag er prima uit en we werden hartelijk ontvangen door de eigenaar. We hebben er een heerlijke week gehad met z'n viertjes
