Highlights
Located just 15 miles from Plymouth on the banks of the River Tavy, Tavistock is a picturesque market town that has retained its old world charm and character and is the perfect destination for anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Tavistock is a great base from which to explore the many outdoors attractions of the area and those who are keen on exploring the natural attractions of this town will be spoilt for choice with walks along the moors and pristine fishing spots. There are five trout lakes in close vicinity to the town centre and there are many other popular fishing spots in the surrounding countryside. Discover scenic walks to enjoy and a visit to Devon''s first ever nature reserve, a walk in Dartmoor Forrest or a wander along Drakes walk- named after Sir Francis Drake who hailed from Tavistock- are all popular choices.
For those more active members of the group, there is a trampoline and a pair of goal posts for you to use, as well as direct access to a cycle path and a river to play in. If croquet, badminton, table-tennis or cricket are more your thing, just ask the Owners who will provide what's needed. With 70 acres to roam around and links to public footpaths leading to local villages and on to the moor, your dog will love it here. For the spectators, and those who prefer to enjoy their surroundings sitting still, there are well positioned benches along the river bank as well as a table and chairs on your own private patio. Should you wish to venture further afield, you are ideally located to access the surrounding towns, villages and attractions within a short drive. If you need any tips or guidance on a recommended day out, the Owners of the property live on site, and will be more than happy to suggest some family favourites, all adding to the holiday experience at Ida Cottage.
