Luxury Villa on the Water

Waterstaete Ossenzijl opened its doors in May 2019. This luxury holiday resort on the edge of the Weerribben-Wierden National Park will consist of 57 luxurious villas when it is completed. All villas are set on the waterfront (fishing water) and come with a jetty and a dinghy (April to October).

Your typical day might look like this: start the day with some nice, fresh bread rolls on your terrace. After that, you could do some fishing from your own jetty, explore the beautiful surroundings by bike, go sailing on the nearby Frisian lakes or visit one of the many cities in the region. When you return to your villa, you can make yourself comfortable and enjoy all the luxury it has to offer.

The holiday resort has a reception. A sandy beach will be developed later on. There are plenty of things to see and do in the immediate vicinity. Day trips to the surrounding provinces of Friesland, Drenthe and Flevoland are all worthwhile. Think for example of cities like Oldemarkt (5 km), Giethoorn (21 km), Meppel (32 km), Drachten (49 km) and Zwolle (54 km). The national forestry organisation's visitor centre in Ossenzijl can provide you with lots of information about nature reserve De Weerribben. There's an interesting walk in Kalenberg (9 km) that takes you right through the reeds (bring your wellies!). If you want to get a good view across the surroundings, you should visit the lookout tower at De Woldberg in Steenwijk (18 km), near teashop Tuk's Theehuis. Nature lovers have a wide range of cycling and walking tours to choose from. Including less traditional options like GeoRun The Signs. This 11-km long step-bike route uses GPS coordinates to take you along the fields, forests and marshes of the Vechtdal region in Overijssel province. Children will love the following day trips: Avonturenpark Hellendoorn (81 km), Walibi (54 km), Attractiepark Slagharen (65 km), Plopsaland Indoor Coevorden (78 km) and Wildlands Adventure Zoo in Emmen (85 km). Culture enthusiasts might try some of the many museums in the area, like Museum Belvédère in Heerenveen-Oranjewoud (29 km), Anton Pieck Museum in Hattem ( 55 km) and Drents Museum in Assen (65 km).
