The location makes a great base for wonderful hikes and bike rides. The Salland Hills are ideal for hiking and cycling. For a somewhat more challenging route you can head to the Hellendoornse Berg, the Haarlerberg, the Holterberg and/or the Koningsbelt. You can explore the area's history on foot via the Wereldtijdpad, a hiking trail near the Holterberg. Every spur of the trail leads you through a different era in history. Along the route you will find over 2000 year markers; these signposts tell you interesting facts about each particular year. Though the park itself does not have many facilities, you can use the facilities at Mölke holiday park (about 6 km). Here you will find a swimming pool, a restaurant, bowling and much more. Buitenplaats Holten offers a luxurious stay in an area well worth exploring.
