The most typical dish from this area is the famous Paella; every Valencian village has its own variety. The region of Valencia is also known for its popular annual festivals, that always attract many tourists. In spring, the annual festival of Las Fallas is held. During this unique colourful festival with lots of music and fireworks (almost) anything goes! Large papier-mâché caricatures of famous Spaniards are carried around the city in a large parade. This festival is dedicated to lots of fun and laughter, and ends with the burning of the statues, fireworks and, of course, lots of paella.
