Ithaca

Ithaka, the ideal holiday address for a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings. Ithaca, also known as Ithiki, is a small island in the Ionian Sea, and part of Greece. Enjoy relaxing beach walks, impressive mountain tours and cosy villages during your holiday, and get a taste of the typical Greek atmosphere from a holiday home on Ithaca.

Experience the tranquillity of a holiday on Ithaca

During a holiday on Ithaca, you can escape from the daily hustle and bustle. Because the island doesn't have its own airport, there are relatively few tourists here. In the summer months, you will find mainly Greek and Italian tourists here. The island is easily reached by boat from Lefkas, Brindisi, Patras and Kefalonia.

Ithaca has an area of over 95 square kilometres, with 100 kilometres of coastline. The north and south of the island are connected by the Aetos, a narrow ridge. During your holiday on Ithaca, a visit to the capital of the island of Vathi is a must. You will find several shops, restaurants and terraces here. Vathi is also the starting point for a beautiful mountain trip to Stavros, where you can enjoy a refreshing drink in the Polybaai. Explore the entire island easily by motorbike, and enjoy the beautiful views. In a holiday home on Ithaca, you are guaranteed to relax!

Ithaka, the homeland of Odysseus

Go back in time during your holiday on Ithaca, with a visit to one of the various archaeological finds on the island. Ithaca is considered the homeland of King Odysseus. For example, you will find the Marmarospilia cave here, where Odysseus had hidden his treasures on his return from Troy. Or visit the hill Pilikaton where excavations can be seen.

A visit to the Kathara Monastery, where an annual festival takes place on 7 and 8 September, is also special. In short, there is plenty to see and do on a holiday in Ithaca.
