In the immediate vicinity are forest and meadow paths and a cycle path. The mountain lake Ratscher is only 2.5 km away and the Vessertal, the most beautiful valley in Central Germany, can be reached in a few minutes.

Activities nearby: Waldau is an ideal starting point for hikes. Just around the corner is the Vessertal with some beautiful circular hiking trails. It is about 15 km to the Rennsteig, a hiking trail about 170 kilometers long with various entry points and signposted routes. At the nearby mountain lake Ratscher you will find plenty of opportunities for water sports and swimming. The summer toboggan run in Waffenrodt and the adjacent adventure playground are worthwhile destinations, especially for families with children.
