Description

On the river Lauwers and close to the 'Green Coastal Route' lies the Lauwerspleats. This characteristic head-neck-torso farmhouse with thatched barn was built by monks of the nearby Girkesklooster in the year 1651. Because the Lauwers used to be in open connection with the sea, the farmhouse is located on its own mound. The house is poorly accessible for disabled guests. Swimming enthusiasts can splash around behind the farmhouse and swim in the river both in winter and summer. For guests of the lodging is a rowing boat with motor ready to make trips to the Lauwersmeer. For cycling enthusiasts we have a men's and a women's touring bike available and a very special 'Danske Post' transport bike, with space for an original English picnic basket. The Lauwers area; the 'Camarque of the North'.

The reclamation of the former Lauwerszee created a unique nature reserve containing large and small lakes, creeks, beaches and forests. From the water, but also from the hiking and biking trails, you can enjoy a very diverse flora and fauna. Especially during the bird migration in spring and autumn you will see a great variety of mudflats and water birds. The large fishing port of Lauwersoog, but also the small ports of Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen, Oostmahorn and Zoutkamp are definitely worth a visit. Close by, about 15 km away, is the picturesque and lively town of Dokkum. A little further, both at about 30 km, the cities of Leeuwarden and Groningen. Leeuwarden, understated, with an old city center, Groningen, a vibrant university town, with also very monumental modern buildings, the office of the Gasunie, not to mention the museum. From Lauwersoog you can take the boat for a day trip to the island of Schiermonnikoog. Bed linen is provided and you do not need to bring your own. In the winter months the horses are stabled. At this special place you only need to sit outside to enjoy the peace and quiet and the landscape around you

Landelijk, heerlijk op de boerderij, rust, goed geisoleerd, leuk wonen zo aan de voorkant op een echte en oude Friese boerderij. Alles bij elkaar in 1 ruime, gezellig! Prima uitvalsbasis naar Lauwersmeer, de Waddeneilanden en Groningen bijvoorbeeld. Drie paarden en een hond, maar ook wild kikkers, konijn en haas. En natuurlijk vogels. Een aanrader!

Rural, lovely on the farm, peace and quiet, well insulated, nice living in front of a real and old Frisian farm. All together in 1 spacious, cozy! Great base to Lauwersmeer, the Wadden Islands and Groningen for example. Three horses and a dog, but also wild frogs, rabbit and hare. And of course birds. Recommended!

Geweldig! Het regende dat we aankwamen, maar de enorme gezelligheid die de boerderij uitstraalde maakte alles goed. De eigenaresse, een ontzettende lieve warme vrouw die achter de boerderij woont stond ons op te wachten. Ons verblijf had alles waar wij zo van houden. Interieur was knus, schoon, alles wat je nodig had was aanwezig, zonder overbodige luxe. De eigenaresse hebben we bijna de hele week niet gezien waardoor het gevoel ontstond dat we heerlijk met zn tweeën waren. Maar we konden ten alle tijden aankloppen voor info. Het lijkt afgelegen te liggen maar in principe zit je centraal van alle leuke plaatsen. Kollum, drachten dokkum, en met de boot van louwersoog naar Schiermonnikoog . Dit is echt een aanrader voor mensen die van rust en vertier houden.

Great! It was raining that we arrived, but the enormous cosiness that the farm was radiating made everything good. The owner, an amazing sweet warm woman who lives behind the farm was waiting for us. Our stay had everything we like so much. Interior was cozy, clean, all you needed was present, without unnecessary luxury. We did not see the owner almost all week, which caused the feeling that we were delightful with two. But we could always click for info. It seems to be remote, but basically you are central to all the fun places. Kollum, drachten dokkum, and with the boat of louwersoog to Schiermonnikoog. This is really recommended for those who like peace and quiet.
