In the Vosges, in the heart of the nature park Ballons des Vosges, you will find La Bresse, a village with 5000 inhabitants. La Bresse is the main ski- and langlauf region of North-East France. La Bresse consists of three winter sports resorts: La Bresse-Hohneck, La Bresse-Lispach and La Bresse-Brabant.
La Bresse-Hohneck is the largest, with 220 ha, 37 varied pistes, a snowpark, sleighing piste, nursery and ski school (les Ptits Montagnards), dusk and dawn ski opportunities and snow shoes walking paths. La Bresse-Lispach is the largest langlauf area of the Vosges, with 50 km loipes and a biatlon stadium. It also has 6 pistes, a snowpark, sleighing pistes and snow shoes walking possibilities. La Bresse-Brabant is a small-scale family ski resort, with 4 pistes and 3 lifts.
Winter sports in the Vosges: The mountains of the Vosges are a lot nearer than the Alps from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. And it is also a cheaper alternative. The region is of course less high than the Alps and therefore less sure of snow, but there are snow machines on several pistes.
